Sixth Grade, Self-Portraits
Lesson One ~ Drawing the Head: Students will learn to draw the face with realistic proportions using an Eye‑ruler to practice for their final self-portraits.
Lesson Two ~ Eyes: Students will learn how to draw eyes that are proportional to the human face, using an eye‑ruler to practice for their self-portraits.
Lesson Three ~ Nose, Mouth, and Shading: Students will learn to draw the nose and ears using an eye‑ruler to complete their practice drawings.
Lesson Four ~ Mouth and Ears: Students will learn to draw the mouth and ears by observing their faces to complete our self‑portrait practice.
Lesson Five ~ Tracing: Students will draw their final self-portraits using the direction packets or trade their practice drawings.
Lesson Six ~ Value: Students will apply the values shadow, highlight, and midtone to their final self-portraits using graphite mark-making.
Lesson 7 ~ Paper Mache: Students will create a 3-D papier-mache background that represents what makes them them for their self-portrait pencil drawings.

Seventh Grade, Traditional and G.T. Color-Tone Self Portraits
Lesson 1 ~ Value: We will learn about the relationship between color and value by filling out a color value sheet in order to map out our self-portraits.
Lesson 2 ~ Color: We will refine our final self-portraits by adding value in order to complete our artwork.

Eighth Grade, G.T. Vessels for A Cause
Lesson 1 ~ How do you make a vessel with clay? Students will learn how to make a clay vessel by exploring slab-building techniques to begin our Vessel for a Cause sculptures.
Lesson 2 ~How to create a unique vessel: Students will engineer unique vessels using the coil-building technique and pinch pots to construct the foot, belly, neck, and mouth of their artwork.
Lesson 3 ~Planning our Vessels: Students will plan their vessels using the Vessels For a Cause Planning Organizer to complete their final sculptures.
Lesson 4 ~ Continuing Our Vessels: Students will continue working on their Vessels for a Cause artwork by finishing the first component of their sculptures.
Lesson 5 ~ Additive and Subtractive Techniques: Students will continue working on their Vessels for a Cause artwork by finishing the first component of their sculptures.
Lesson 6 ~ How to make your Vessel FOR a Cause: Students will finish their work on the Vessels for a Cause sculpture by completing their last components to complete their sculptures.
Lesson 7 ~ Completing our Vessels: Students will continue working on their Vessels for a Cause artwork by finishing the first component of their sculptures.
Lesson 8 ~ Final Sketch: Students will finalize their ideas by creating a full-color sketch in their sketchbooks to plan their final vessels.
Lesson 9 ~Painting: Students will paint their vessels, using literal and figurative symbolism to represent their causes, to complete their artwork.
