Kindergarten Coral Reef Collage
Day One: We will explore color mixing by observing how light behaves in water to create the background for our Coral Reef Collages.
Day Two: We will learn about coral reef texture by creating crayon rubbings on construction paper in order to cut them into coral shapes for our reefs.
Day Three: We will learn about coral by observing and drawing organic shapes in order to create our Coral Reef Collage.
Day Four: We will learn about marine life in coral reefs by drawing and cutting fish in order to finish our coral reefs.
Day Five: We will reflect on the elements that make up a coral reef by gluing our fish onto our background and taking a gallery walk to complete our Coral Reef Collage project.
First Grade Self Portraits
Day One: We will learn what makes us unique by reading the book I Like Myself and creating a unique portrait collage to begin a Self-Portrait lesson.
Day Two: We will learn about how to draw facial features by observing faces and teacher demonstrations in order to begin our Self-Portraits
Day Three: We will learn about different hair types and personal details, observing our hair to finish our unique Self-Portraits.
Day Four: We will learn about our skin by reading the book: The Skin We Live In in order to add color and complete our Self-Portraits.
Second Grade Scratch Art Landscapes
Day One: We will learn about Kenneth Noland by creating color field drawings in order to create a base for our scratch art paper.
Day Two: We will identify different types of lines by completing a line worksheet to prepare for our line-Scratch-Art Landscape.
Day Three: We will learn about landscape and line by sketching in order to plan our final Scratch-Art Landscape.
Days Four and Five: We will demonstrate what we have learned about line and landscape by scratching lines to create a Scratch-Art Landscape.
Third Grade Perspective Flower Field Landscapes
Day One: We will learn about perspective by completing a practice worksheet in order to discover strategies for our Perspective Flower Field artwork.
Days Two and Three: We will learn about native flowers of Maryland by studying the shapes, colors, and lines that make them, in order to choose three flowers for our final artwork.
Day Four: We will learn about one-point perspective by drawing our final Flower Fields using perspective techniques.
Day Five: We will compare applying watercolor with a wet brush versus a dry brush by painting our Flower Fields to create a base layer to draw on once it dries.
Day Six: We will demonstrate our understanding of diminution and diminishing detail by drawing our flowers differently across the foreground, middle ground, and background to complete our artwork.
Day Seven: We will demonstrate our understanding of diminution and diminishing detail by writing an artist statement in order to complete our artwork.
Fourth Grade Crazy Quilt Collage
Day One: We will learn about Crazy Quilts by adding texture, color, and design to paper in preparation for our own Quilts.
Day Two: We will learn about radial symmetry by creating “blueprints” or patterns to plan for our final Quilts.
Day Three: We will learn about craftsmanship by cutting out and gluing our “fabric” paper using our patterns in order to assemble our Quilts.

Day One: We will learn about Hayao Miyazaki's characters by combining animal features to plan a Fantasy Animal artwork.
Day Two: We will learn ways to transform animals into fantasy creatures by creating sketches to prepare for our final artwork.
Days Three and Four: We will learn mark-making techniques by drawing our fantasy animals to begin our final artwork.
Day Five: We will learn four watercolor techniques by painting our habitats to create the background for our Fantasy Animals.
Days Six and Seven: We will learn about creative writing by writing lore about our animal species in order to conclude our Fantasy Animal project.
